
A MAN was killed and three others were injured in a tragic three-car crash in County Limerick this past Monday night (June 8).
According to GardaĆ, the driver of one of the cars fled the scene on foot, and investigating officers are now searching for the unidentified driver.
The fatal crash took place at around 11pm on Monday night on the N21 between Abbeyfeale and Newcastle West in County Limerick.
GardaĆ and emergency services attended the scene, which is still closed pending technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. Local diversions are currently in place, GardaĆ said.
A man in his 30s, who was a passenger in the first car, was pronounced dead at the scene, GardaĆ confirmed. His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem was to take place.
According to GardaĆ, āthe driver of the first car left the scene on foot and GardaĆ are seeking to identify this personā.
The occupants of the second car, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s, and the driver of the third car, a woman in her 60s, were both treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene.
Following the fatal crash, GardaĆ are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
āRoad users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N21 from Newcastle West towards Abbeyfeale, County Limerick between 11pm and 11.30pm on Monday 8th June 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating GardaĆ,ā a Garda statement said.
