ONE of Limerick’s longest-established theatre companies is set to launch a new production this week at the Belltable Arts Centre.

It comes as part of Limerick Torch Players’ goal to present two productions each year to eager theatre-going audiences in Limerick.

Gut by Frances Poet opens at the Belltable Arts Centre this week for a limited run of two shows, Wednesday (September 24) and Thursday (September 25).

The production is directed by Daordre Minogue and the cast features Tara Monaghan, James Corr, Bríd Hartnett, and Pádraig Lohan.

The story begins with a simple encounter that quickly spirals into suspicion and anxiety, asking urgent questions about how much of the world we can protect our children from, and whether instinct is always to be trusted.

Director Daordre Minogue described the production as a “gripping modern drama that explores the limits of trust, fear, and parental instinct”.

“Gut is a brave, unsettling piece of theatre that pushes us to confront the shadows of everyday life. Torch Players are proud to bring such an important and timely work to Limerick audiences.”
