Horses seized by Limerick council

TWO horses were seized by Limerick City and County Council in one day earlier this month on the outskirts of Limerick City.

According to a statement from the local authority, the two horses – a five-year-old female chestnut horse and a five-year-old bay female horse – were seized from the Old Cratloe Road on October 16.

According to the Council statement, the owners or keepers of the abandoned animals are not known.

Abandoned horses seized by the Council, if not claimed by their owner within five days, are re-homed to shelters outside of Limerick in accordance with the 1996 Control of Horses Act.
