THERE will be no roadworks in Limerick City over the Christmas period.

That’s according to a statement from Limerick City and County Council, confirming the roadworks “prohibition” which it hopes will “enable maximum vehicle and public transport capacity and mobility to, from, and within the city centre during the Christmas and New Year shopping period”.

The prohibition will be in place between Saturday November 29 and Tuesday January 6, 2026, on roads in the city centre and along any national or regional roads passing through the Metropolitan area.

The Council said that local authority crews, utility companies, and contractors will only be allowed to carry out works “of an urgent or emergency nature”, which should only take place between 10pm and 6am.
