BISHOP of Limerick Brendan Leahy has said that teachers should be appreciated for their sense of “high vocation” and commitment to the formation of young people.

Speaking on a pilgrimage of 30 teachers organised by Limerick Diocese to Rome, Bishop Leahy said that teachers mould and inspire young people more than any other profession.

The pilgrimage was part of the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year of Hope 2025, focusing on the role of education as an act of hope.

A highlight was the special audience for educators with Pope Leo, who thanked teachers for their great work.
