
A MOTORCYCLIST was killed in a road crash in County Limerick earlier this Sunday afternoon. The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, lost his life after his bike crashed with a car.
GardaĆ said the fatal crash took place at around 4pm this Sunday afternoon (November 16) on the R519 at Ballykevin, near Kilmeedy.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, GardaĆ said, and his body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick.
GardaĆ said the driver of the car, a woman, was assessed at the scene by responding GardaĆ and emergency services, and did not require immediate hospital treatment.
āThe road at the scene is currently closed to traffic and is being preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and the local Coroner has been notified,ā a Garda statement said.
Diversions are in place on the R519 between the R520 at Ballykevin and Kilmeedy Village.
GardaĆ are now appealing to any drivers who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to come forward.
āRoad users with camera footage (including dashcam) from that section of road during the relevant periodā, GardaĆ said, are also asked to make it available to investigating GardaĆ.
