
LIMERICK Volunteers received nine shortlisted nominations in the Irish Red Cross Volunteer of the Year Awards – one third of the full number of award nominations nationally.
Shortlisted nominees include a father and daughter for Volunteer of the Year and a double shortlisted nomination for a volunteer and instructor.
From Young Volunteer of the Year to Instructor of the Year to Newcomer of the Year to Branch of the Year, Limerick volunteers received national recognition for their tireless service for Irish Red Cross.
The Irish Red Cross National Volunteer Awards recognise the commitment, compassion, and hard work of Irish Red Cross volunteers who generously give their time for the betterment of communities across Ireland.
These inspiring volunteers – who provide first aid at local community events, check on isolated or vulnerable people, help communities prepare, and respond to severe weather episodes or provide therapeutic hand care to nursing home residents – will be celebrated at the awards ceremony on November 29 at Croke Park.
The Limerick nominations include: Amy Shanahan, East Limerick branch – Newcomer of the Year; Sarah and John Collins, East Limerick – Volunteer of the Year; Mary Grehan, Limerick City branch – Volunteer of the Year and Instructor of the Year; Rosemary Lucey, Limerick City branch – Young Volunteer of the Year; Niall Boland , Limerick City branch – Unit Member of the Year; Brendan McCormack , Limerick City branch– Instructor of the Year; Sinead McCarthy, Limerick City branch – Newcomer of the Year; Limerick City Branch – Branch of the Year.
