THE number of second-hand cars in Limerick imported from Japan has increased by over 20 per cent.

New figures reveal the increase as drivers seek more affordable diesel options.

Analysis from Close Brothers Motor Finance has revealed a 21 per cent rise in second-hand cars imported from Japan to Limerick this year, while second-hand UK imports in Limerick are down over 14 per cent, as of the end of October.

The shift comes as taxes on new diesel vehicles continue to rise, and electric vehicles also remain out of reach for many household budgets despite grants and incentives.
