LIMERICK’S staging of the Hiscox Padel Irish Open has been hailed a major success, with five days of electrifying international competition having huge crowds on their feet.
Padel is an ever-growing racquet sport. The Open was a leg of the CUPRA FIP (International Padel Federation) Tour.
In the men’s draw, the Swedish powerhouse duo Albin Olsson and Daniel Windahl showcased their exceptional teamwork and consistency to claim victory.
This victory marks their second title together this year, following their FIP Bronze triumph in Norway, and reinforces their growing dominance in the international circuit.
The women’s final produced one of the most dramatic matches of the tournament, as Lorena Vano (Italy) and Xenia Clasca (Spain) staged a remarkable comeback against seasoned competitors Nati Lopez Diaz (Spain) – a 12-time CUPRA FIP Tour winner – and Rebaca Lopez (Spain).
The Irish Open continues to strengthen Ireland’s presence in the global padel scene. Over five days, fans were treated to fast-paced rallies, strategic play, and moments of individual brilliance, reflecting the growth and excitement of padel worldwide.
Naomi Nicholl, PFI Chairperson, said “the Open was an incredible success. It’s amazing to see so many top players and fans coming together on Irish soil, showcasing the growth and excitement of padel in Ireland.”
