87 NEW homes got underway across Limerick city and county in the month of October.
That’s according to new housing commencement figures recently published by the Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage.
The Department’s monthly figures show that 1,441 commencements were made across all of Ireland in the month of October.
In Limerick, that figure stood at 87. This figure stands almost double the same period last year, with 46 commencements in October 2024.
However it shows a decline on figures from this past summer, with 117 in June, 110 in July, 150 in August, and 120 in September.
So far this year, 818 homes have gotten underway in all of Limerick.
If the slowdown seen in October continues, the county will fall short of the 1,532 commencements made in 2024.
