A LIMERICK lady has gone viral after a stranger approached her on the street with an extraordinary proposition and a tremendous act of kindness.
Last month, OOOSCH, Ireland’s giveaway page took to the streets of Limerick as part of their Acts of Kindness series where they visit towns and cities across Ireland and stop people on the street with small cash prizes and quirky questions.
However for Kay Kearney from Janesboro she got far more than a free cup of coffee when she was approached on William Street and asked to recall the last time somebody did something nice for her.
“A long time ago”, was Kay’s reply, and before she knew it, she found herself en route to Footlocker just a short walk away on Cruises Street to nab herself a brand new pair of shoes for free.
And it wasn’t long before Kay was told that if the video of the encounter received one million likes on social media, the giveaway page promised to return to Limerick to gift Kay a new car just in time for Christmas.
The video has since been widely circulated on social media, and speaking to the Limerick Post, Kay says it was completely unexpected:Â “I was taken unawares, I was just coming out of Penneys when two lads approached me…they were absolutely lovely.”
“I have arthritis in my feet so I had to get something with a lip or laces but these were very expensive ones, they cost €120”, Kay shared.
Then Kay was told that if the video managed to get one million likes on social media.
Since the video was published, the Janesboro woman has attracted lots of attention from people: “People are coming up to me and saying you’re that woman who won the shoes and fair play to you.” Kay said she didn’t mind what kind of car it would be.
The video has received over 204,000 thousand likes across OOSCH’s social media platforms so far.
Speaking to the Limerick Post, a spokesman from OOOSCH said that Kay was picked at random by the time and found herself “in the right place at the right time.”
“She had a big friendly smile and was so nice from the minute we said hello and she only got nicer and nicer as the interaction went on. When you meet someone like Kay it really makes you feel even better about what we do because it was clear how grateful she was and how appreciative she was”, he added.
The video is available to watch on OOSCH Giveaway social media channels – Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
