ONLINE scam fundraising pages have been created purporting to ask for funds to cover funeral costs for the family of Limerick siblings Scarlett and Jason Faulkner, who passed away a week apart.

Scarlett Faulkner (29) was laid to rest last Friday. She passed away on April 13, three weeks after she was allegedly assaulted at Birdhill, County Tipperary.

Ms Faulkner’s brother, Jason Faulkner (30s), who had been a pallbearer at her funeral mass, died tragically just days later this past Sunday (April 19).

Local sisters Aisling and Joanne (Josephine) Duffy, the partner of Scarlett and Jason’s brother Thomas Faulkner, posted a video to social media warning people not to be duped by scam pages asking people to make a financial donation to the Faulkner family.

Aisling Duffy, a well-known social media influencer who posts under the name Aisling Unfiltered, urged people across Limerick to “be very careful” if they receive messages about the scam fundraising page on crowdfunding platform GoFundMe.

“The Faulkner family will be funding all their own funerals, they would never ask for any donations,” she said.

“We just want to let ye know that, for Joanne and myself, there are fakes pages made, and we would never text ye or ask for any funds.”

Joanne Duffy said the Faulkner family were a “big family and they all have each other”.

“They are going to support each other, they are going to be there for each other, and they’re going to be funding the funeral themselves,” added Aisling.

Joanne Duffy shared photos of Jason Faulkner on her TikTok account, saying she was lost for words following his tragic passing.

Relatives and friends of Mr Faulkner, one of 16 siblings, shared messages upon hearing of his passing and paid tributes to him.

“You’re back with your sister Scarlett, we will all love and miss ye forever,” stated one of many tributes shared online.

“I’m lost for words, seen this boy carrying his poor sister’s coffin at her funeral and now he’s gone to heaven, I’ve never seen sadder in my life,” another mourner wrote.

“God help all the poor family,” another post wrote.

“I have no words, utterly heartbroken for the entire family, may he be reunited with his beautiful sister,” another mourner wrote. “Sending the family prayers and strength to get through this unimaginable loss.”
