Stars join for earthquake relief

Irish and Kiwi invitation teams will compete in a match in to raise funds for those affected by the recent natural disasters in New Zealand and Japan at Old Belvedere RFC in Donnybrook, Dublin 4 on Friday, 29th April at 7pm.  The match is being sponsored by Toyota and more information on the event and how to donate is available at www.eventelephant.com/earthquakeappeal.

Former Leinster and Ireland international Bernard Jackman will be coaching the Irish selection and former All Black Greg Feek and Wellington (NZ) player Andy Wood will coach the New Zealand selection.  

Tickets for the game will be available at the gate at a cost of just €10 for adults and €5 for children

The fundraising rugby match is being organised by KEA Ireland (Kiwi Expats Abroad www.keanewzealand.com) and the NZIA (New Zealand Ireland Association www.newzealand.ie).

Proceeds from the event will go to the Irish Red Cross’ New Zealand Earthquake and Japan Tsunami appeals to help those affected by the recent and devastating natural disasters.  

The city of Christchurch was struck by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake on the 22nd of February, causing widespread devastation to the city. The quake caused significant loss of life and injury as well as widespread damage.

Two and a half weeks later on March the 11th a massive earthquake measuring 8.9 struck off the Eastern coast of Japan. It triggered a ten-metre Tsunami. This has resulted in approximately 26,000 people recorded as missing or dead.

KEA Ireland and the NZIA are inviting you turn up and show your support for New Zealand and Japan on April 29th.  There will be raffles and a good old New Zealand barbie on the night.
