A LIMERICK property went under the hammer at an auction of distressed properties this week for just €37,000. The two-bedroom, third floor apartment at Richmond Court, had a reserve of €37,500.

A one-bedroom apartment on the tenth floor at the same address didn’t make its reserve price €50,000, but sold after auction.
Three units in the Cratloe Wood student village fared better selling for €112,000, having been brought to auction at €75,000.

Clearance given to Musgrave to take over Superquinn

CLEARANCE has been given to the Musgrave Group to take over Superquinn.
The Competition Authority said it was allowing the purchase, one which will secure the long-term viability of Superquinn, and protect the 2,500 jobs at the chain, and saw no grounds to stand in the way of the deal.
Superquinn opened their first Munster outlet at the Castletroy Shopping Centre in Limerick about seven years ago.

Work to commence on Clarina water scheme

THE long awaited group water scheme at Newtown, Clarina, is to commence in the coming weeks.
Following a question posed by Cllr Patrick C Fitzgerald, a meeting of Adare area councillors was told that one kilometre of pipe is to be laid on the Wash Road and the project is expected to take about seven weeks, depending on rock obstruction.
Grading of the road has taken place for the completion of road surfacing when pipe laying has been completed.
Cllr Fitzgerald said he welcomed the move, as it had taken over 20 years for this project to come to fruition.
It is expected that the work will be completed by early 2012.
