Picture perfect at Rutland Street

The venue 6A at Rutland Street is host to the travelling PhotoIreland Festival of photography and image culture  until July 27.  The exhibition coming here is called ‘New Irish Works’ and is a group show of 25 Irish and Ireland based photographers. It’s a first for Limerick, with Dublin and Cork being the other centres privy to see such skilled contemporary works. Free in.

IRISH Chamber Orchestra’s Music Factory, the annual camp for children aged eight to 12 years, returns to UL on Monday July 29 until August 30. This year’s is centred on a Mardi Gras celebrating 40 years of the university, experienced through ” a wonderful week of music, drama, dance and art, in a state-of-the-art facility, at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance”.

Directed by ICO violinist Diane Daly and ICO community manager Kathleen Turner, additional tutors include singer/ actress Jean McGlynn, dancer Jenny Brown, artist Lisa Cody, percussionist Boris Hunka and ICO musician. The Italian mime artist and actor, Oscar Valsecchi is special guest at Music Factory.

TRADERS on Roches Street wish to flag details of its art festival to visual artists who may wish to contribute works, or even donate a piece for auction as 25 per cent of sale proceeds annually got to local charities.  Roches Street Traders Arts Festival  2013 will run from Monday September 9 to Saturday 21.
