WHERE are the great days of real Munster? The clashes at sell-outs in Thomond Park, the ‘craic’ at the Sixpenny Side, the joy linked with numerous travel experiences all over Europe and the glory times of lifting the Heineken Cup in 2006 and 2008.

The club’s latest defeat against Connacht has left an enormous question as to what is going on behind the scenes, and what is going to happen in the immediate future.

There is no doubt that head coach Clayton McMillan is beginning to ask himself how he got into this mess, although he has recently said that he has “no intention of stepping down” from the role.

It was reported that some important members of the province’s Professional Games Board, who are all former players, Billy Holland, Killian Keane, and Mick O’Driscoll, resigned their positions.

Members of Munster’s Commercial Advisory Group have also reportedly resigned from their voluntary positions.

The loss in Galway was another regret for the fans who will be hoping that their side can squeeze into the play-offs with a win over the Lions in the URC in Limerick this Saturday, 7.45pm.

McMillan’s side are currently sixth in the table with only a one-point buffer ahead of the final round.

Let’s hope this crucial fixture is well supported!

Munster hope to have Jack Crowley available after a leg injury, but talismanic captain Tadhg Beirne is set to miss out.

“Jack would be a strong possibility, I think it’s just a niggly injury. Tadhg, I wouldn’t think so,” McMillan said after the 26-7 defeat to Connacht.

The province’s already lengthy injury list was added to with the departure of Edwin Edogbo through a shoulder problem at the weekend.

Meanwhile, after two seasons, Thaakir Abrahams is to leave Munster and return to his native South Africa with Bulls, while the contract of Diarmuid Kilgallen has been extended.
