30 new jobs for Limerick

THIRTY new jobs have been announced for Limerick today in the Kirby Group, a major Irish mechanical and electrical engineering contracting firm, has announced the creation of 30 new jobs in its Irish operations.

The announcement was made during a visit by Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan T.D. marking the expansion of the group’s Limerick office.

The Group, which is celebrating 50 years in business this year, will start filling the 30 new positions immediately.

The vacancies are in a variety of professional engineering and construction roles including project management, site management and quantity surveying.

Full details are available on www.kirbygroup.com. Kirby Group has already hired 30 new employees since the start of the year. This follows the continued strong performance of their Irish and UK business, with turnover for 2014 expected to increase by 20 per cent from €90m in 2013, which grew from €64m in 2012. In the UK, the company has already secured more than over £20m of new business since the start of the year.

Announcing the jobs, Finance Minister, Michael Noonan T.D. said: “The company is to be congratulated both for its impressive business growth and its proven capacity to create employment.”

“I know that the company is proud of its strong links with Limerick since it was founded here by Michael and Tom Kirby in 1964. It is fitting then that their Limerick office is to benefit from this expansion. This investment will serve the company well as it works to deliver key projects in the mid-west region.”

Founded in 1964, Kirby Group is an Irish-owned international multi-disciplinary engineering services contractor and one of the major players in the Irish construction industry today.  The organisation has gone from 10 employees in 1987 to more than 600 today, with substantial operations in Dublin, Galway, Limerick, the UK and Europe, with a further 250 people employed by key subcontract partners.
