Limerick Fire and Rescue Service launched their Rescue Boat – FireSwift and alongside ground crews, searched the river.

As the caller had removed their SIM card and was unreachable for further information, the call was determined to be a false alarm.

Limerick Marine Search and Rescue, Gardai and HSE Paramedics were also in attendance.

Immediately after this incident, Limerick Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to a call of a car supposedly on fire in St Mary’s Park.

This was also determined to be a hoax call.

Gardai are investigating both incidents with a view to tracing the caller.
