#Limerick City Fire and Rescue recovered the body of a woman this Tuesday morning

THE Body of a #Limerick woman in her 70s has been recovered rom the River Shannon in Limerick during the early hours of this Tuesday morning.

Shortly after 11pm on Monday night, a large scale land search was underway in the Corbally area of Limerick for a missing woman, before the alarm was raised alerting three units of Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service to the scene.

Crews from the Rescue Service were dispatched to the river adjacent to the Mill Road.

Gardai and the Shannon based Irish Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 115, were also at the scene assisting in the search for a missing woman.

Volunteers from the Limerick Land Search Team and the Limerick Marine Search and Rescue also assisted with the large scale operation.

Shortly after 2am in the early hours of this Tuesday morning, the remains of a woman were recovered from the water near the Mill Road by Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service Swift-Water Rescue Technicians and Teh search was stood down.

The remains of the woman have been removed to the University Hospital Limerick for a postmortem examination and formal identification.
