
BROADFORD United and Newcastle West (NCW) Town will contest the prized Desmond Cup Final at Mick Hanley Park, Askeaton, this Friday (7pm, referee: Pat O’Connor).
United are seeking to win the title for the third year on the trot, following on from final wins over Dromore United and Rathkeale over the past couple of seasons.
With goals from Jack Pierce (2), Kenny Lynch (2), and Colm Ryan, the holders beat Rathkeale 5-1 in the semi-final.
Broadford United (v Rathkeale): Patrick Stack, Seamus Brosnan, John Hayes, Bryan Hannigan, Jack Pierce, captain, Joe McAuliffe, Michael Brosnan, Adam O’Kelly, James Molyneaux, Colm Ryan, Joshua Keane-Quinlivan.

In their semi-final, NCW overcame Glin Rovers 4-2, with the goals from Dylan Browne, Kevin Barrett, Mikey Conlon, and Tiernan Kelly.
NCW were last champions in 2008.

The sides met recently in the Premier League, with Broadford 3-1 winners at Newcastle West.
Extra-time and penalties will take place if either are necessary.
In the Premier League, Ballingarry bridged a 22-year gap to claim the title courtesy of a splendid 3-0 win at Breska Rovers.
The goals arrived through Aaron Smith, Jamie Forde, and Brian O’Sullivan.
