Kidney dialysis unit opens in Limerick

A NEW kidney dialysis unit has opened at The Riverside Business Park on the Dock Road.
The clinic is welcomed by patients who were previously obliged to travel to Galway for treatment three time a week.

The new unit is being run for the Health Service Executive by the German healthcare provider Fresenius.
The kidney dialysis unit at the Mid-Western Regional hospital is full to capacity and no longer able to accommodate new patients, although the HSE has plans to expand the unit at the hospital from 11 stations to 25.
On a recent visit to the new clinic, TD Michael Noonan, said “”This is great news for patients and their relatives and I want to thank the HSE locally for pursuing the issue so effectively. The HSE are subject to a lot of criticism. On this occasion, I would like to say well done to all involved.”
