EYES have been caught by a new mural on Clare Street in Limerick City.

The new mural was unveiled on May 10 by the Friends of Lace Limerick group, at a celebration with the local community.

The new mural stands on the gable of Rockhall Vets on Clare Street, an area that was home to several lace factories in the golden era of the Limerick lace industry between 1830 and 1850.

The work was a collaboration between Friends of Lace Limerick and local mural artist Ohhi-Ohno, who took inspiration from a Limerick lace shawl designed and made by Limerick lace teacher and designer Eileen O’Donoghue (1892-1960).

The project was funded through the Community Initiative Grant Scheme as well as a public crowdfunding campaign.
