Scenes from an Oriental Court

LIMERICK Musical Society is set to entertain audiences with the Rodgers and Hammer masterpiece musical The King and I this weekend at UCH. The classic musical opens at the University Concert Hall this Thursday March 5 for three nights only, 8pm show.

The cast is headed by Aodán Fox as The King of Siam and Edel Heaney plays the pivotal role of Anna, schoolteacher to the king’s wives and children.

Gerry Ryan, chairman of Limerick Musical Society, promises The King and I “will be one of the most spectacular musicals ever to grace the stage of UCH. Some of the costumes that will be worn for The King and I were used in the West End production when it was staged a few years ago”.

“The amount of rehearsal effort that the cast have put into this production has been remarkable. It is quite an enormous musical to stage and I have every confidence that University Concert Hall will be full for this production, testimony to the hard work that everybody has put in over the last number of months”.
