The accident happened at Garraun, Lisnagry at 1.15am this morning.
The 37-year-old was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
The road was closed for a time while Gardai conducted a technical examination of the scene, but it has since been re-opened.
Gardai are looking for witnesses to the crash to contact them on 061-377105.
