LIMERICK duo Opentide open a bold new era with ‘Older’, recorded at Wanderland Studios.

Thom O’Keeffe and Denny Dunworth, who make up Opentide, have spent the past year at Wanderland Studios in Limerick crafting what they describe as a mature evolution of their sound. The pair bring considerable pedigree to the project, having previously collaborated with Noel Hogan of The Cranberries and performed as part of Limerick act Supermodel Twins.

Their forthcoming material marks a deliberate departure from their earlier style, incorporating layered, atmospheric arrangements performed by professional session musicians on violin, viola, cello and piano.

The lead single, ‘Older‘, is due for release on Thursday June 19. The track was mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Christian Wright, whose credits include albums by Radiohead, Ed Sheeran and Arcade Fire, lending the release a sonic weight befitting the duo’s expanded ambitions.

The single is intended as a polished introduction to what Opentide describes as a widescreen sound –  one that trades the intensity of their earlier work for a more sophisticated, carefully layered signature.

The debut album, recorded in full at Wanderland Studios, is expected to follow later this year.
