Style shopping without cash! Yes please

This weekend a unique fashion swapping event is taking place in Limerick. ‘The Stylexchange’ is the result of the fashion swapping craze that has swept recession hit countries worldwide. Not only is it good for our wallets and our wardrobes ladies, – it’s also great for the environment. Interested? I thought you might be!

For the last number of weeks, women of all ages and sizes have been asked to drop-off their gently worn or unworn items which they in turn receive tokens for. These tokens can then be used to shop at the main event. That’s the basic concept but there’s so much more to it than that. This event is special in that it’s a stylish girlie night for women of all ages (sorry boys, only the girls can shop!). The event will kick off at 7pm sharp in the Clubhouse Bar at Trinity Rooms where an Absolut Vodka cocktail reception will greet guests while they peruse beauty stands from leading local businesses including Halo the Urban Retreat, the Ivy beauty salon, Beau Ireland, Mandy O’Loughlin make-up artist and more.

Following this, and some browsing time to check out the style available, trading time will commence and this is where the fun begins! Now your tokens are your currency and you can shop to your heart’s content. Remember you can earn more tokens for bringing in better items to the drop-offs which take place this Thursday from 11am to 2pm and Friday 11am to 6pm in the Clubhouse Bar at Trinity Rooms. If clothes have tags on, then even better, or if you have shoes still in their box then this will earn extra value too. Already a large mix of high street, designer and vintage items have been received, in sizes 8 to 18.

An extra element to the evening’s proceedings is a Charity Celebrity Auction which will see kindly donated items from the wardrobes of well known Limerick women including Celia Holman Lee, Emma O’Driscoll and Leanne Moore be silently auctioned with all proceeds going to Adapt House and Rape Crisis Centre in Limerick. A number of prizes are being offered including an overnight in the G Hotel, Galway for Most Stylish Guest sponsored by Limerick Now, and anyone who drops off items to exchange on Thursday will be entered into a draw for an overnight stay for two at the Old Quarter Lodge boutique hotel and a bottle of bubbly at the event on Friday night.

Tickets are priced 15 euro and available to buy in advance during the drop-off times. They should also be available on the door on the night. Only those that drop-off items can trade at the event but this is an open event with tickets available to all (that includes you too boys) and those not trading can still participate in the charity auction.
