Swim abandoned over safety concerns

THE Thomond Swim had to be cancelled over weekend when organizers of the event decided to call off the swim due to bad weather and safety concerns.

Following an absence of 20 years, the swim had been revived and was due to take place on Saturday afternoon.

Around 40 swimmers went into the water at 2pm but organisers were forced to recall them.

It is understood the flow of the river was too much following all the rain over the past few weeks and there was large amounts of spill over water coming down river.
