Cois Fharraige 2009 takes place in Kilkee, Co Clare from Friday September 11 to Sunday September 13. This years Cois Fharraige line up is bigger and better than ever with some of the best international and home-grown talent on the music scene.
The Zutons return to the West Coast of Ireland festival after having a blast at last years festival with Doves who’s current album Kingdom Of Rust has been described by NME as 1 of the 10 most important Albums of 2009. Surfers favourite Newton Faulkner, Noah and the Whale are also on the line up with first time performances in Kilkee for The Hold Steady, Lightning Seeds Unplugged, Stereo MCs and Hallo I Love You.
Laura Izibor takes to the stage on Friday and has been nominated for Best Newcomer Award at the Mobo Awards 2009 alongside the likes of former X Factor contestants Alexandra Burke and JLS. Laura Izibor continues to wow everywhere she goes. After reaching No.2 in the Irish Charts with her debut album Let the Truth be Told in May 2009, the album entered the top 30 in the US charts and No. 6 on the US R’n’B / Soul album chart. Her new single If Tonight Is My Last is out this September. Also on the bill for Friday are Joe Echo, The Blizzards and headliners Doves. Saturday night sees performances from Festival favourites Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club, The Hold Steady, Noah and the Whale, Newton Faulkner and The Saw Doctors.
Sunday sees performances from Hallo I Love You, Jazzlite, Lightening Sees and unmissable live action from the Stereo MCs. In 1990 Stereo MCs broke records when their Elevate My Mind single was the first English hip hop single to reach the US R&B chart. In the UK they were supporting bands like Happy Mondays and working with the Jungle Brothers as the indie dance scene came to prominence. Their acclaimed live shows paved the way for 1992’s breakthrough Connected, a UK Albums Chart No.2, which spawned the smashes Connected, Step It Up, Creation and Ground Level, and won them BRIT Awards for Best Group and Best Album. They released their most recent album Double Bubble last July and last Christmas joined Madness at their O2 London show.
