A LOCAL man was named a ‘Hospice Hero’ for his outstanding work in raising vital funds for Milford Care Centre.

John Higgins was celebrated alongside 12 others from across the country at a national awards event hosted by the Hospice Sunflower Days campaign.

Mr Higgins was presented the Hospice Hero award for consistently going above and beyond in supporting the annual campaign, and for travelling across Limerick and Clare to set up collections and helping out with his dedication, effort, and reliability.

This year marks the 36th year of the Hospice Sunflower Days campaign, with on-street fundraising collections taking place from June 11 to 13.
