Third man arrested in relation to Treacy shooting

GARDAI in Limerick arrested a third man in relation to the murder of Daniel Treacy at the Topaz petrol station on the Ennis Road on the outskirts of Limerick city last Monday morning. The man in his fifties, was arrested on Thursday in the north side of the city and is being held at Roxboro garda station for questioning.

On Wednesday night last, Gardai obtained a judicial order from Limerick District Court to extend the period of detention by 72 hours in relation to a 29-year-old man that was arrested on Monday night.

A 28-year-old man that was arrested shortly after the shooting dead of Mr Treacy, has been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP. 

The massive garda investigation is ongoing into the murder of Mr Treacy who was shot a number of times after 6am on Monday morning last as he delivered bread to the shop at the Ennis Road petrol station.

The removal of Daniel Treacy, 35, took place on Thursday night last and he was buried in Doonass Cemetery following requiem mass at St Mary’s Church, Athlunkard Street at 11am today, Friday, February 26.
