3rd anniversary for Three Songs

Tuesday May 4 marks the third anniversary for Three Songs, the weekly Tuesday platform for singers and songwriters at the White House on O’Connell Street. Plans for the night mooted by organiser Chris Wood include the live recording of songs and music played on the night, with the line up composers each selecting one song only for the CD.

“The second idea comes from Brian Connolly, who suggested that we might play someone else’s song on the night, perhaps by one of the other artists that comes to Three Songs,” says Wood. “We did this before and it was good fun”.

See www.threesongs.org for an update.

Insight to Speakers Corner

Note in your diary the establishment or a new series taking place in the bohemian forum that is the White House. On Monday nights at 8.30pm, the White House Debates & Speakers Corner sees a guest speaker of repute invited to posit an argument of current validity to the immediate community or indeed, wider nation.

“The appalling social, economic and political state of our little democracy, and the consequent need to redress this situation while striving to advance the common good, is the primary motivation behind this site and the Speakers Corner series,” says founder Bill Kelly.
