Limerick to face Kerry in Killarney for final

-

LIMERICK will face Kerry in this season’s Munster Football final on July 4 in Killarney, after the Kingdom overcame Cork in the semi final last Sunday on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-14 after extra time.

The upcoming final fixture is the first time the two sides have met since 2005, when Kerry triumphed 2-10 to 0-10 in that season’s Munster semi final at the Gaelic Grounds.

Kerry will be chasing their 73rd Munster title, and their first since 2007, while Limerick will be chasing only their second ever Munster title, that sole win came all the way back in 1896.

The Limerick panel will this week prepare for the final with three challenges matches of their own. Clare, Tipperary and Westmeath will provide the opposition as Mickey Ned’s charges prepare for their second Munster final in a row.

In an interesting point, this seasons final will be the first time Mickey Ned will lead Limerick against his native Kerry. It could be first time lucky.
