Rathkeale Hotel to close

THE Rathkeale House Hotel is to close its doors inside the next three weeks.

Owner Tadgh O’Connor, told the Limerick Post this Wednesday that the decision was taken to allow the family concentrate on their other business ventures.

“We have furniture stores and are also builders providers, all trading very successfully. In fact, we plan further expansion.

“With the economic downturn last year, we had to put some staff in those businesses on three days weeks, but that has now changed and we are back to full working weeks.

“There is a definite upturn with consumers showing more confidence”.

Mr O’Connor said that the Rathkeale House Hotel, standing on five acres, had other possibilities.

“The hotel industry has changed a lot in recent years and to be honest, we did not have the time to give to it”.

He denied rumours that another party had expressed an interest in buying the property with the intention of converting it into a nursing home.

Mr O’Connor thanked all who had supported the hotel since it opened.
