LIMERICK City and County Council seized an abandoned horse from an estate in Limerick’s county town earlier this month.

According to a Council statement, a four-year-old brown and white male Shetland was seized from the Sharwood Estate in Newcastle West on June 5.

According to the Council, the owners or keepers of the abandoned animals are not known.

Abandoned horses seized by the Council, if not claimed by their owner within five days, are re-homed to shelters outside of Limerick in accordance with the Control of Horses Act, 1996.
