Limerick face tough tasks in 2011

-

THE Limerick hurlers under new manager Donal O Grady will face current Munster Champions Waterford in the 2011 Munster hurling championship semi final.
The draw for both the hurling and football Munster championships were made last week, as the new season comes onto the horizon.

In fact last weekend, O’Grady and his back up team held trials for 70 plus players. An invitation letter was sent to over 70 players last week and the trials, which were held, in Knocklong and Staker Wallace in Martinstown were considered a success. With no panel being selected for several weeks, the trials are seen as a chance for all Limerick hurlers 2009 and 2010 to stake a claim for this season’s panel.
Meanwhile, in the 2011 football draw, beaten Munster finalists from last season, Limerick, take on the winners of Kerry and Tipperary in the Semi final. Limerick managed to avoid the big two last season until the final, but this year Maurice Horan’s side will face Kerry, (no disrespect to Tipperary) in the semi final. Dates/Times and venues will be announced in due course.
