Love, sex, birth, salsa and Little Gem

HOW can we resist a ruse like this? – “Little Gem sees three generations of Dublin women on a wild and constantly surprising journey”. That reality and a brilliant play was enough to sell out theatres in New York, Paris and London over the last two years while scooping a slew of awards. Little Gem is one big stick of dynamite.

Dublin based company Gúna Nua, under  Limerick man Paul Meade, brings the hit show to Moyross for one night only this Saturday October 23.

Naturally, there’s a run on tickets for a play this funny and wise, especially as promoter Richard Ryan is charging €5 only for the production, 7pm start at Corpus Christi School.

Meade, co-founder of Gúna Nua, first read Elaine Murphy’s Little Gem in 2008 and promptly staged its debut in the Dublin Fringe Festival. It won several awards and went on to great acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2009, winning the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award.

London’s Time Out magazine dubbed Little Gem “a tiny treasure” and the doughty New York Times found  it  “intimately told and beautifully acted”.
