Off We Go! launches apps for children with disabilities

-

Ireland has gone iPhone wild and now children with disabilities can get in on the act – and learn while doing it!
Thanks to the vision of Avril Webster, Limerick entrepreneur and mother of 3 children, one with special needs, her very successful Off We Go! series of books has been adapted to work as new iPhone/iPad Apps.

The Off We Go! series provide a visual step by step guide to everyday experiences including going to the dentist or going on a plane and children with disabilities can now be assisted in these everyday activities with two new iPhone/iPad Apps.
“As a mother of a child with special needs I am keenly aware of the need to prepare children for everyday experiences like going to the dentist.  I am delighted that in addition to hard copies of the books, there are now two iPhone/iPad Apps on iTunes. I firmly believe that the iPhone/iPad will revolutionise how children with special needs communicate, learn and access entertainment!” stated Avril Webster

The Apps are not only very practical but also have great new features including narration in English and Spanish (you can even record your own narration), and the ability to colour in the pictures. The iPad Apps have sound and animation to give the child a better idea of what to expect. The touch screen and swipe functions make it easier for children with disabilities to use. The Apps will also appeal to any young child, as well as those learning English or Spanish.
“The Off We Go! series of books are extremely popular however, I know the importance of moving with technology so when New Zealand based Kiwa Media approached me and suggested we recreated the books as Apps I was thrilled”, Avril commented.  Kiwa Media specialise in creating apps for existing and new publications and the first sales report for Off We Go! has indicated that the Apps have generated international sales in US and Asia.
