Munster women take on Connacht

-

The Munster Women’s team, sponsored by Keane’s Jewellers, will open the defence of their Interprovincial title against Connacht, this Saturday, 6th November in Musgrave Park, Cork, ko 2pm. Munster are chasing their fifth Interpro title in a row with two challenging matches away from home facing Ulster and Leinster.  Head Coach John O’Sullivan and Assistant Coach Marie Barrett are delighted with the squad’s preparation for Saturday’s fixture and welcome all support*. The side features eight of Ireland’s recent Women’s Rugby World Cup squad incuding UL Boh’s Niamh Briggs, Mairead Kelly, Louise Beamish, Gillian Bourke, Highfield’s Helen Brosnan, Laura Guest, Chris Fanning and Blackrock’s Louise Austin. A notable omission is last year’s Munster Captain and Ireland’s influential number 8, Joy Neville, who is not named due to injury. Highfield’s Helen Brosnan takes over the Captaincy role this season and the former Munster Women’s Player of the Year will be looking for a strong start to the campaign as she leads the side out this Saturday in Musgrave Park.
