Charged with possession of seven kilos of cocaine

A 39-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, have been charged with the possession of seven kilos of cocaine with an estimated value of over €1.9million, after gardai from the national drugs unit and customs officers stopped the car they were driving outside Gort last week.

Alan Graham and Susan Ryan, with addresses in Caherdavin and Collinamuck, Co Galway,

 

were charged with the possession of the drugs for sale or supply contrary to section 15 of the misuse of drugs act 1977.
Subsequent searches of houses near Moycullen yielded seizures of €100,000 in cash by gardai after allegations that the drugs entered Ireland via Shannon Airport from the US.

Graham was refused bail over fears that he would not stand trial if released, but Ryan was granted bail pending an independent surety of €30,000 and her own bond of €1,000 be lodged.
The two are to appear again in Galway District court this week.
