19 tonnes of waste recycled in Limerick

AN incredible 19 tonnes of electrical waste was recycled during two recent Recycling Days in Abbeyfeale and the Crescent Shopping Centre, which is the equivalent of over 630 chest freezers! Martin Tobin, general manager of ERP Ireland said: “The sheer volume of electrical waste collected in Limerick is a strong indication of the dedication of the people of Limerick. We would like to thank all involved for making it such a success!”

A recent survey carried out by ERP showed the majority of Limerick residents recycle electrical waste annually.

Men are more likely to recycle WEEE than women, which is not surprising given that large electronic items like TV’s and computer equipment are the most common waste streams recycled.

Those who were unable to make the recycling days can recycle their household electrical waste for free at local amenity sites in:
· Kilmallock Civic Amenity Centre, Shannon Development Industrial Estate, Bruree Road
· Mungret Civic Amenity Centre, Bunlicky, Mungret
· Newcastle West Civic Amenity Centre, Station Road.
