Murder accused remains in custody

A 28-year-old man remains in custody at Limerick Prison charged with the alleged murder of 48-year-old Francis Greene on November 28 of last year.
Kevin Coughlan of Newenham Street in Limerick city, appeared at Limerick District Court and was remanded in continuing custody pending the directions of the DPP.
Making no reply when he was initially charged by Det Garda Viv Downey, Coughlan is accused of murdering Francis Greene at Steamboat Quay on the night of November 28 last year.

 

The body of the 48-year-old (pictured right) was recovered from the River Shannon at Portdrine, Co Clare three months after Greene was first reported missing. Coughlan appeared via video link again this week.

The directions of the DPP are sought and Coughlan is to remain in custody at Limerick Prison.
