Free music recital at the Hunt Museum

A free concert by a Finnish singer and an Irish guitarist is scheduled for this weekend at The Hunt Museum. A graduate of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, Alan Colfer now works there as principal guitar tutor. He has played extensively throughout Ireland and Europe, and his repertoire draws influence from music the world over. Finnish singer Laura Hilska began singing and touring with the internationally-renowned Tapiola Choir during her early teens in Helsinki.

In recent years she developed an interest in Irish music and moved to Ireland in 2005. In 2010 she graduated from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance with a BA in Irish Music.
This concert will bring together the colours and styles of many different periods and countries, featuring an eclectic mix of medieval, sacred and traditional vocal music from Finland and Ireland, as well as instrumental music from the Renaissance to the present day.
The music recital begins at 3.30pm at The Hunt Museum on Sunday April 3. Admission is free.
