The prestigious awards were announced in London by an international panel of legal, financial and business experts.

Managing partner with Sweeney McGann Gearoid McGann, who represented the Limerick Vintners in their application, expressed his delight with the award. He outlined “it is a huge accolade for the firm to receive this award and delighted for the entire team who are involved in the delivery our licensing and commercial services. It is particularly pleasing for a Limerick firm to achieve this recognition based on a case that generated so much positive global attention for the city.”
The landmark licensing decision to open public houses on Good Friday in Limerick for the first time since the 1920’s was based around the designation of Munster versus Leinster Magners League game as a special event. The decision to award the area exemption received extensive international media coverage from the USA to Australia based on its legal and social significance.
Sweeney McGann was shortlisted for the award after selection by an independent board who identified legal firms who have demonstrated expertise in their core service areas. The final judgement is undertaken by a panel of global experts which included senior Partners of global law and accounting firms, the President of a Global Legal Network and CEO’s from major Multinational companies.

Celebrating their win are Jane O’Connor, Solicitor, Gearoid McGann, Managing Partner and Shane O’Neill, Partner.
