Bandits rock the Picnic

LAST Saturday The Rubberbandits drew a huge crowd to their afternoon show at Electric Arena, the biggest venue under canvas at EP. A countdown clock on the big screens raised the tension before the bandits jumped on stage to radio clips of the rumpus caused by the Horse Outside video last December.

It has been a whirlwind year for the duo and for this show they let the music do the talking with a tight performance and new dance routines. Bags of Glue and Double Droppin’ Yokes get the EP crowd dancing and the only folks leaving during this gig are some embarrassed parents finding the bandits Schick a little too adult for their young kids. When Horse Outside is played the crowd go completely nuts.
Later that night at the Salty Dog stage it’s party-time as the bandits get on board the legendary shipwreck in the woods of Stradbally Hall for the dirty rave with drum ‘n’ bass MC Daddy Earl. All three are in full flow and the crowd is heaving for what was one of the highlights of Electric Picnic 2011. (pic: Ken Coleman)
