‘Perfectly focused vision’ – theme of Vision 2 eyecare weekend

If you are one of the many people who move their glasses onto their forehead or nose whilst reading, or have to bring the page closer to your eye to read, then perhaps it’s time to have your eyesight checked. You could be ready to switch to a Varilux lens. That’s the message from Limerick optician Orlaith Ryan who is opening the doors of her Henry Street practice on Friday, 7 and Saturday, 8 October, to advise anyone who is developing this habit on why this is happening and how a change of lens type could eliminate the need to remove glasses to read.

It could also make their life a lot easier.
The two-day event, which is being run in conjunction with Raheen-based Varilux lens manufacturer, Essilor Ireland, will include many special offers including €40-off vouchers for Varilux lenses (valid until the end of December 2011), goody bags and lots of free advice on eyecare.
Vision 2 has been running this very popular weekend event for the past three years with a very high uptake from people with deteriorating vision and people who currently wear varifocal lenses but are ready for an upgrade.
Explaining why this type of lens is necessary, Orlaith says: “It’s all due to a condition called presbyopia, which simply means that the eye is losing its elasticity. It’s not something to worry about as it’s a perfectly natural change in vision, all part of the ageing process and will begin to manifest itself generally after age 40. It becomes obvious when reading with glasses becomes a little more difficult and near and far vision somewhat blurry. This can be easily corrected with a Varilux lens, the strength of which can be determined during a full eye test.”
To avail of free eyecare advice and learn about the benefits of a Varilux lens, simply drop into Vision 2 Opticians at 6, Henry Street, Limerick on Friday October 7, or Saturday 8, and talk to Orlaith Ryan and her team or visit www.vision2opticians.ie.
