Shots fired on car that rammed gardai

Gardai in Roxboro Road are investigating the circumstances relating to an incident in which a car failed to stop for Gardai on the Dooradoyle Rd, Limerick on Tuesday evening last. Two Garda cars were damaged and a Garda member was injured in the incident and was later treated at the Mid Western Regional Hospital.

The incident related to a car that failed to stop following the direction of gardai. During the incident, the suspect car rammed the unmarked Garda cars and subsequently a number of shots were discharged in the course of the incident.

Two males have been arrested. Both are being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended (a male in his late 20’s in Henry St and a male in his mid 30’s in Roxboro Rd Garda station).
