The Carpenters – A Celebration

UNIVERSITY Concert Hall is delighted to welcome the hit tribute show by Toni Lee, acknowledged to be ‘the voice’ of Karen Carpenter. Toni’s smash hit, ‘The Carpenters – A Celebration’, comes to the concert hall for one night only, Tuesday 29 at 8pm. “Toni Lee mesmerised audiences on ITV’s Stars in Their Eyes in her tribute performance to Karen Carpenter,” reports Emma Foote, marketing manager at UCH. “The Carpenters recorded some of the greatest love songs in pop music history, heartbreakers and tearjerkers that captivated not one but three generations of popular music fans.

“The comparison between Toni and Karen is unreal,” Emma comments. “It’s evident in hits  that are timeless including ‘Yesterday Once More’, ‘Superstar’, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’, ‘Please Mr. Postman, (They Long to Be) ‘Close To You’, ‘It’s Going To Take Some Time’, ‘I Won’t Last A Day Without You’, ‘Rainy Days And Mondays’, ‘Top of the World’, ‘Ticket To Ride and many more.”
This should be a great night of for musicality, romance and nostalgia. At least 10 of The Carpenters singles went on to become million-sellers, and by 2005, combined worldwide sales of albums and singles exceeded 100 million units.
