THE body of a man has been recovered from the River Shannon after it was discovered by engineering workers carrying out survey works at Bishop’s Quay last Friday lunchtime.
Lying in the mudflats at low tide, the remains are believed to be of a local man who was not thought to be in the water for a long period.
Detectives from Henry Street Garda Station attended the scene shortly after 12.30pm when they were alerted to the grim discovery.

Units from the Limerick Marine Search and Rescue were scrambled from their Dock Road base and a recovery boat was launched from O’Callaghan Strand.
