Criminal damage charge adjourned to September

JUDGE Eamon O’Brien has adjourned the case of a teenager charged with criminal damage after the accused knocked off the wing mirror of a car occupied by a security guard working on Marian Avenue, Janesboro last November. The adjournment was sought for the matter of compensation to be considered by the State and for the accused youth to make good the damage. Kenneth McNamara, 18, with an address at Colbert Avenue faced two charges of criminal damage where the court heard that on the night in question, the accused was in the company of a number of youths who were observed by a security guard attempting to knock over fencing in Janesboro.

The court heard in evidence that the accused was seen with the group during the incident and the security guard flashed the headlights of his car as a deterrent.
However, the court heard that the group walked towards the parked car and the accused then knocked off the wing mirror of the car.
Darach McCarthy said that the teen came before the court with no previous convictions and asked if the issue of compensation could be considered and the matter was adjourned until September 26 next.
