Happy ending for Batty the survivor dog

Huge response to Post story

BATTY the survivor dog has found a new home and a happy ending with a kind animal lover who read of his plight in last week’s Limerick Post.
The people of Limerick have shown their generosity of spirit by coming forward in their droves to offer a home to the four-year-old dog who suffered a harrowing experience when injuries were inflicted on him.

The story of Batty, who had been neglected, abused and deliberately blinded before he was taken in by a compassionate county woman, tugged on the heartstrings of Limerick Post readers.
One kind-hearted soul anonymously dropped in €50 for Batty to the Limerick Post offices, as he could not offer him a home but wanted to contribute.
Bridget, from Athea, has been feeding Batty and tending to his wounds for a couple of weeks now but with six dogs already to care for, she and her husband Seamus, were already financially stretched and unable to keep Batty.
However, having read his story in the Post, a Ballingarry lady is to offer Batty a new home, where he will have a lot of space to run around outdoors, a bed inside and two older dogs for company.
“Batty has put on 6kgs since we took him and he looks great,” Bridget proudly told this reporter.
“His wounds are gone after his treatment and, while he will never get his sight back, he is finding his way around.
“I’m delighted with his new home and I’m sure he’ll be very happy there.
“Thankfully, we will be able to visit him and I’m sure we will barely recognise him once he is back to his full weight and all his hair has grown back.
“I was overwhelmed by the response to his plight and it just goes to show that there are some really decent people out there.
“Thank you all”.
